My desk with the calendar. Notice the cute apple border:)

Accountable Talk board

"AR tree" with table and chair to use during Math by Myself. This tree should be full of leaves and apples by the end of the year. The students will get to add a leaf for every 100 they make on an AR test and an apple for every 10 pts they earn. I can't wait to see if grow.

Here is my updated tree on September 26, 2013 with my first AR 10pt apple :) and many leaves

Science and Social Studies art table and showing off my apple curtains I made

"Stop and Drop" shelf. This is where students turn in assignments, box tops, lunch money, and notes from home. The shelf also holds our head phones for computers, snacks for the end of the day, and notebooks for guidance and library.

Daily 5 board with rotations, standards, and activities to do.

Closer look at our rotations.

This side of the board shows all the Daily 5 components with the activities listed beside.

I use this white board for carpet time and I love it! The blue containers you see holds our community supplies.

View of my math shelf. The drawers I use for Math Work Games (review games). On the Daily 5 math board for Math Work I will list the drawers they can get in. There is about 5 to 7 games in each drawer. They love to pick a game out to play with a partner. The little black boxes hold my flashcards. and the three shelves at the bottom hold supplies.

This is my class tree. Each year my class adds a finger print leaf to represent that class.

Partner math tray and the math kits.

Math kits hold dice, counters, and number tiles.

Birthday Banner

Moving from second grade to third I didn't feel I could sacrifice a whole bulletin board for a birthday board so I decide to make a six circle hanging decor to display my sweeties' birthdays. These are shown with out the ribbon and clothes pins that will have the students name on them. Did they not turn out so cute!?!

Once again this was made with my Cricut! I have fallen in love!

Notice the paper alternates from birthday party hats and cupcakes but still sticking with the same color scheme.

Word Wall Letters

I made these letters with my Cricut! Every teacher needs one!

I choose to cut my letters at 2 1/2 inches tall and placed them on 7 in round plates. How cute are these and they fit perfect in my apple themed classroom.

I alternated with yellow, blue, and light green letters on these precious red plates.

Homeworkopoly

I have been seeing all over Pinterest the homework game "Homeworkopoly". I have been wanting to make one. Well today's the day! Here is my newest classroom management plan...

My idea is either to put this on a bulletin board or on my magnetic white broad. All students will start on "GO"  on Friday only if they turn in ALL homework ON TIME all week long. This may seem harsh but I want them to also be present every day even if they are absent due to sickness :(. They will roll the dice and then move that many spaces. If they land on an "Apple Pass" then they will draw a card and get to use the pass throughout the next week.
Apple Pass:
Pick your math partner
Extra 5 pts on test
Write with a pen
Treat Box
Choose brainbreak
Special Pencil
10 min computer time
Homework pass
choose to share a desk with friend
Go barefoot for Daily 5
Borrow teacher's chair
Skip Morning work
etc.
If the students land on "Take a Ride" then they must stay on the bus until they roll a 6. If they land on "Free homework pass" then they get a homework pass they must use the following week. They may get stuck at the "Bus Stop". In order to move from this space they must roll a 1. Lastly when they pass "GO" they get a treat from the "Treat Box".
The next thing I want to do with this game is what McDonald's does with collecting all the spaces. There are 12 spaces that are named for specials or subjects. I am going to make a check list with these 12 spaces on them that they must keep up with in their red folder and if they "collect" all 12 then they will get a Homework Pass.

Valentine Boxes

Valentine's Day was super special this year in my second grade class. For the 2012-2013 school year Valentine's fell on a Thursday so the few day leading up to this special day my class made Valentine boxes. As a class I had heard several little conversations going around about why they needed to send in Kleenex boxes. They had many ideas about what they were going to make but I think I really surprised them when I said we were going to make Monster Valentine Boxes!!! I found a how to online here's the link... and here's our class pictures :)

The orange one is mine! I had more fun then they did I think !!
I cut out the mouth, wrapped the boxes out of paper, and  made stencils for the hands and feet.

The eyes and other decorations were made out of shape stickers.

This little one makes me smile!! The child who made it makes me smile even more!! :)

Class Tree

This upcoming school year will be my third year of teaching. When I was planning my wedding I saw all over pinterest how people could but a finger print (leaf) on a tree as a guest book. That got me thinking of my students and what could I do that I would have something that would represent each child in my class. I went to the ever worthy pinterest for ideas and I found the idea of a tree and have each class put finger prints (leaves) on a tree in different colors. This picture below is from my first class which I choose yellow. This year my class choose orange and for the upcoming year I'm going to encourage red. I can't imagine how beautiful this tree will be after 20+ years.

Math Skeletons

This Halloween I separated my class into groups and had them work together to answer problems on their Math Skeleton. They then had to cut the bones out and glue them together to make a 3 ft skeleton.( Hint: have them lay the piece out first then glue) After they finished I let them decide what phrase they wanted their skeleton's sign to say. Here's the finished product ...

Some ideas for your skeleton...
